The FCS students are sponsoring an Egg Hunt during lunch recess on Thursday, April 6th. All RES students are invited to participate. Students who would like to participate will bring $1 to go on the hunt!

Next school year, RES will be organizing a Parent Teacher Organization, that will plan and organize school activities and provide additional support to maximize the educational experience for all children and boost staff morale. More information about how to become involved in the RES PTO will be shared in the coming months. Please stay tuned! 📻
➡️But in the meantime, please help the organization get started by purchasing a $10 digital image of your 2nd and 3rd grader on April 6th. (Forms will be sent home this week.)

Congratulations to this subtraction ninja! 🥷

On Thursdays, tickets are drawn from student incentive buckets in the morning and students participate in their chosen incentive activity throughout the day. These 3rd grade students photographed enjoyed reading aloud to a 2nd grade class and creative library time with friends.

The annual Cherokee County Livestock Show has kicked off another year of excitement. Seeing the kids so excited and ready to show off all of their hard work makes the late nights and early mornings all worth it. We are so proud of their hard work! We wish our Rusk Elementary School students the very best outcome! We can't wait to hear all about it!

We love your face! ❤️

Don't forget tomorrow is picture day!

RES held its traditional Friday Morning Meeting to celebrate students’ weekly efforts with shout-outs and book tokens. In addition, we honored students who received 3rd Quarter academic excellence, citizenship awards and recognized UIL participants. It’s was a fun celebration! 🎉

College Day at Rusk Elementary is a day when everyone on campus comes together to acknowledge a broader focus on the opportunity every student has to go to a university, a junior college or a trade school.

Field day is always the perfect opportunity for Coach Hoffman to showcase the PE program and allow students to showcase their skills. RES 2nd & 3rd grade students enjoyed a cooperative day that focused on student participation and teamwork.

Friday was the famed Field Day, a day where the students and teachers of RES gather on the playground for a rowdy and festive school-wide competition. Everyone had a blast! Mrs. Blackmon’s & Mrs. Sunday’s classes were pumped to claim the trophy as the classes earning the most points. 🎉

A HUGE 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 goes out to Brandie Garner of Texas Farm Bureau. This local business generously donated the 2023 Field Day t-shirts for each student and staff member at Rusk Elementary School. Students wore their colorful shirts with great pride at Field Day and will wear them again in May for Water Day.

2nd graders went beyond the ordinary last week while visiting The Center for Earth and Space Science Education. The TJC planetarium allowed an immersive learning environment: a full-dome video experience, interactive displays, exhibits, and classroom play spaces for visiting students. The teachers also enjoy the opportunity to really connect with their students outside their classrooms

This quarter's Campus Leadership Book aims to discover all the simple yet fantastical things one can make out of a box.
If you give a child a box, who can tell what will happen next? 📦 It may become a library or a sailboat, a palace or a race car. It could just as easily set the scene for a fairy tale or a wild expedition. The most wonderful thing is its seemingly endless capacity for magical adventure, a feature imaginatively captured in textured, cardboard-esque art by Chris Sheban and rhythmically celebrated in Jane Yolen’s poetic tribute to the humble box.
We look forward to seeing how each classroom interprets this text and how they bring the words to life and demonstrate their creativity.

Please remember to bring water bottles to school each day!

Please mark your calendars for upcoming RES Spring Photos!
