The town square has so much history and so many hidden jewels! The 2nd grade teachers created a walking tour map, contacted local businesses, set up tours and embarked on an educational journey with their students Downtown Rusk on Wednesday to get to know the stories behind the old buildings and better understand the careers offered in our community. We ❤️ our hometown and love how welcoming all the local businesses were in hosting our students. It was a meaningful day of learning.

Rusk Elementary School invites you to an Year-End Student Showcase to acknowledge the accomplishments of our students throughout the school year. Students may invite two guests to attend. (The guests must be on the student’s Skyward pick up list.) The two guests must bring their ID to the front office and be scanned in our system by Friday, May 5th @ 3:45, if they have not already done so.

Thank you for your continued, faithful support of our school! Our RES Color Run Fundraiser was a huge hit! We are anticipating a fun-filled day and look forward to purchasing items for our school to benefit our students.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

On Wednesday 3rd grade students will be taking the STAAR Math test.

The end of the school year is extremely busy and fast paced. We have many end of the year activities planned and wanted to communicate our available lunch reservation dates for May for those that want to eat lunch with a student before the school year ends. Please plan accordingly and make reservations in advance by calling the office. {The dates not listed will be dates our campus is closed to lunchtime visitors.}

Please mark your calendar for 3rd grade testing dates.

Due on Friday, April 28th.

We are making plans for our Friday student programs next school year. In order to plan appropriately for staffing, facilities, food, and busing we need to determine how many students will be participating. If you might be interested or know your student will be attending these events, please take a moment to answer these questions.

STAAR Testing Reminder

Rusk ISD
Skyward Password Update!
In an ongoing commitment to protect data and to improve Skyward
security features, changes will be implemented to our Skyward system
regarding district passwords through an update Thursday night. This
password update procedure is a requirement from Skyward, our software
provider, and it applies to all users.
On Friday, April 21, 2023, when district users (Employees, Guardians
and Students) log in for the first time, you will be required to enter your
current password twice. This will prompt the system to review your
password to check to see if you currently meet the updated Skyward
security requirements. If your password is already secure you will be
allowed to log in as normal. If not, the system will require you to change
your password to a new password that will need to be at least 8 or more
characters in length and include both upper and lower case characters.
Once you change the password, you will be able to access your account.
Thank you for your help in keeping our data secure.

Leslie McDaniel is an exceptional teacher at Rusk Elementary. She builds students confidence and tries to turn their extrinsic motivation into intrinsic determination. Regardless if it is a student with a disability or a student for whom English is a second language, Mrs. McDaniel always works toward meeting the students where they are and then lifting them to meet academic expectations. Another quality we admire is that she always works with other teachers training and collaborating. She is always striving to expand her own learning and share with the campus; she has been a great team player!

STAAR Testing will be on Thursday.

One thing that Rusk Elementary School staff members look forward to every spring, is playing baseball with the Unstoppables! It’s always a fun-filled Saturday morning. We love seeing our students thriving in an inclusive environment, reuniting with some former students, and even making new friendships. We appreciate the league for making this experience possible each baseball season.

RES is organizing a student Color Run to raise money for our school. We anticipate using the money raised to purchase things to enhance student learning and support the social emotional needs of students. Our goal is to add sensory & self regulation stations in the hallways, student showcase stations, small group areas, and so much more...
The event will be held on Monday, May 15th. We will encourage students to wear white on this day. Students will have 30 minutes to run/walk the course. There will be color stations set up along the course. Each lap the students complete, the more colorful they will be.

Kona Ice will be on campus on Thursday!
