Many of Mrs. Dominy’s and Mrs. Kadlecek’s students have been utilizing their recess time to enhance their yo-yo skills and learn new tricks.

Thanksgiving is a time when 3rd Graders share in the creation of their traditional “stone soup” on the last day of class before Thanksgiving. This is a tradition that has been enjoyed and passed on by families and classrooms throughout the centuries. The value of thankfulness is brought to the children’s consciousness by helping them become aware of the needs of other people in the world by sharing from our own bountiful lives.

Happy Thanksgiving!

➜𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑: Week One
Students who had perfect attendance the week of November 6th-9th were invited to have a slice of pizza with the Eagle today. Attendance plays a big part in student success and we want students to get excited about learning and have ownership in their school experience.

Students at Rusk Elementary were able to purchase feathers to dress their classroom turkey. The class who collected the most feathers would get to enjoy their teacher dressing up as a turkey for a day.
We also had a Friendsgiving parade where we circled around the track. We gave his family our feather donations, chanted his name, and cried happy tears.
It put a smile on our faces and brought joy to our hearts to see his sweet face!

Kona Ice will be on campus Thursday, November 16th. All online orders need to be placed by 8:45 am on Thursday morning.

Monday, November 13th, is the last day to buy feathers to help support one of our precious students and his family. It’s a close race between a few teachers!
Thank you all so much for your support ❤️

High 5's for Heroes
Veterans are the Heart of America
Veterans lined the entry way, bus line and car line of Rusk Elementary School Thursday morning and were thanked, hugged and given high 5's by both students, faculty, and parents.
Thank you Mrs. Blackmon for organizing such a great event to honor our local Veterans.

Perfect Attendance Takeover

Please join us for Frito Chili Pie and Entertainment as Rusk Elementary celebrates Christmas in Texas!

Here at RES, we like to celebrate the holidays with some festive dress-up days. We try to make the theme days easy enough that the majority of our staff and students will want to participate. Holiday Spirit Days will be Monday, December 4th through Thursday, December 21st.

At RES, we are raising awareness of the importance of excellent school attendance and supporting our students to achieve their attendance target for November and December. We have put some incentives in place for the next two months to encourage students to "beat the bell" each day.
Regular school attendance is vitally important for students to remain on track with their learning and make the most of their school experience.

In recognition of Veterans Day, Rusk Elementary School created a “Wall of Honor” to pay tribute to family members of RES students and staff that served in the military. In recognition of their service to our country, students brought a photograph and a profile card to be showcased in the front foyer of our building.

3rd grade artists have been learning about Vincent van Gogh and made their own flowers inspired by his Sunflowers painting. They also worked on their art detective skills and looked at Starry Night and wrote about things they found in the painting. #artclass #res

Wig Out Wednesday~ Wildly Important Goals
We all know that setting and achieving goals is a life skill necessary for success and happiness. On Wednesday staff and students set realistic goals and are working hard to help students follow through.

There have been many fantastic upgrades and improvements made by our RISD Child Nutrition Department the last few years. The food is much more appealing to students and they are enjoying the many food options.
The lunchroom is a fun place for students to gather, take a break, and eat. We are super excited create an create a more inviting and warm space for students during mealtime. Our RES lunchroom will be undergoing a makeover, complete with new furniture, paint and custom signage. Our cafeteria will be closed to guests November 13-16, as we get students acclimated to new lunchroom procedures.

Tomorrow Veterans will be on campus to greet student.

On Wednesday we will be wild about making personal attendance goals for November and December!
