Lunch guests are welcome!

As football season is upon us, we would like to remind students and parents about the expectations for students who attend football games. Students attending football games are expected to sit in the bleachers. Administrators ask that students please not play near the concession stand. If caught loitering in these areas, students will be asked to sit with their parents, or if no parent is present, you will be removed from the event. We appreciate your help with the implementation of these expectations to ensure student safety while giving our fans the opportunity to enjoy the game.

RES Photo Day is October 10th.

The Rusk Elementary School Fellowship of Christian Student Organization is hosting a student led "See You at the Pole" event on Wednesday, September 27th before school.

We are celebrating the "grands" a bit differently this year. Instead of a lunch event, we will host an come and go event after school hours. Stop by, visit, take a look around, and do a bit of Book Fair shopping!

Please make plans to attend Rusk Elementary School Open House on Monday, August 28th!! We want to welcome parents to join educators as partners in the educational process. This opportunity for parents and teachers to meet and connect deserves special attention. We recognize that it may be difficult to arrange child care, but want to create an opportunity where parents can be free to focus on meeting the teacher and listening to their presentation. At the meeting, teachers will cover the basics: Homework Policy, Discipline Policy, Curriculum, and so much more. Teaching is truly an honor and we want parents to trust us every day their most prized possessions.

On Mondays our students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt from a university or college to promote higher education, including two-year vocational education programs and the military. It’s important to begin discussions about their future aspirations.

By 3rd grade most students generally know what kinds of books they like to read. 3rd grade teachers still want to expose them to different literary genres, authors, and titles. One unique way to do this is by hosting our annual RES Book Tasting in the library. This is a great way for students to sample books they may not otherwise come across! Mrs. Sunday did a fabulous job of cooking up a great lesson on genre.

Join us for our first PTO Meeting on August 15th at 6:00pm! We will begin our very first PTO Membership Drive soon.

We've had a great first week!! We had many questions this week about our school hours, so we wanted to make sure our school times are communicated clearly. (Everything is pretty much the same, except the school dismissal time.)
The RES doors open at 7:30. Between 7:30 and 7:55 students will enjoy "morning mingle" and eat breakfast in the classroom. (same as last year) The school day begins at 7:45am. (same as last year) The tardy bell rings at 7:55am and our learning day begins. (same as last year) The car line doors will close at 8:00am, so our staff can support students in the classroom. We ask that parents pull into the parking lot and enter the front door to sign your student in at the office. Students are not marked as a "late arrival" between 8:10-8:59. Daily attendance is taken daily at 9:00am and any student who arrives at school after that time is considered absent. RES will dismiss school daily at 4:00pm.

★ 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑! ★ RES has implemented a school-wide ticket system to encourage participation and positive behavior in the classroom and throughout all areas of the school. These 2nd grade students are learning about the reward system and the grade level is working hard to unlock this incentive.
