~WILDLY IMPORTANT GOALS~ Wig Out on Wednesday!

January 1st is when many of us (me included!) set goals for health, wellness and taking care of our bodies and minds. In my opinion, no profession deserves a focus self-care like that of education! Teaching and loving kids requires so much from us – physically, mentally and emotionally. We loved the positive message that Brenda Mallard, Davis from N-Spirit & Truth Ministry brought our RES staff on our last staff development day. It was a wonderful reminder of balance and using the New Year to recharge our batteries.

The end of the year provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the past months, celebrate achievements, and set new goals for the upcoming year. January marks not only the beginning of a new calendar year but also a chance for a fresh start in class. Let's "WIG OUT" on WEDNESDAY about the importance of reflection and how setting meaningful goals can rejuvenate our approach for a successful year ahead.

Please consider showing your support to the RISD Band Boosters Organization by attending the upcoming Valentine's Day dance with your 'lil sweetheart.

Mark your calendar!!

The month of January is School Board Recognition Month. This is a time for us to show our year-round appreciation for our school board members and their dedication to our students. These individuals approach their volunteer work like it is a full-time job and, put in countless hours as they prepare for each meeting. If you see one of our school board members around town, please be sure to thank them for their service to our district. Our RES Leadership Students presented them with a sweet treat and a heartfelt poster.

On Monday, school will be closed to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
In the event there is inclement weather at the beginning of next week, updates will be shared on the district website and social media regarding school closures or a delayed start time.

Give a big shout-out to our newest 3rd Grade Black Belt Ninja!

This story is a powerful reminder of the power of words. It is a hard lesson to learn; without knowing the full story, you can do more harm than good. This is the damage that gossip causes. Tommy learns the hard way that it is much more difficult to take back lies than it is to spread them. By apologizing and using the power of positive words, Tommy can right his wrong.
Forgiveness and making amends are important lessons that readers of all ages can take away from Mr. Peabody’s Apple, and for that reason this book was chosen as our Campus Leadership Book. for the 3rd quarter.

Don't forget to wear your college t-shirt on Monday!
