mid.johnson@ruskisd.net Dr. Johnson grew up in Gary, TX, has been married to his wife, Annette, for 34 yrs., and has three grown children. He treasures every opportunity to spend time with them. He has devoted 34 yrs to serving public education, from teaching to Superintendent. He is passionate about supporting students, empowering educators, and building school success. Mid earned his Bachelor's degree from Letourneau University, Master's Degree from UT Tyler, and Doctorate Degree from SFA.

tammy.hancock@ruskisd.net Tammy Hancock serves as the Executive Director of Special Programs and is the District Testing Coordinator. She brings 22 years of educational experience, including 17 years in campus and district leadership roles, and is beginning her 10th year with Rusk ISD. Tammy earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lamar University and provides leadership in federal programs, student assessment, and other special programs.

misti.owens@ruskisd.net Misti Owens serves as Exec. Dir. of Curriculum & Instruction, with 20 yrs of experience in public education. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees UT Tyler. Misti provides strategic leadership for PK–12 curriculum, instruction, assessment, & professional learning, ensuring all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities. Misti lives on her family ranch with her husband & their two daughters.

krista.mcnew@ruskisd.net Krista McNew serves as the ESL Coordinator and TIA Lead for Rusk ISD. She is beginning her 19th year with the district and 22nd year in education. A graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler, she is passionate about supporting students and educators while building lasting relationships across the district. Guided by her faith, Krista considers her greatest blessing to be watching her son and daughter grow into the individuals God created them to be.
