Board Elections
Rusk ISD Board of Trustees Elections
Rusk ISD Board of Trustees shall consist of seven members. The method of election of Board members shall be by position. General election of Board members shall be on the May uniform election date conducted on the first Saturday in May of each year. Board members shall be elected for three-year terms, with elections conducted annually, as follows:
Positions 1 and 2 The election for positions 1 and 2 shall be held in 2024, 2027, 2030 and in three-year intervals thereafter.
Positions 3, 4 and 5 The election for positions 3, 4 and 5 shall be held in 2025, 2028, 2031 and in three- year intervals thereafter.
Positions 6 and 7 The election for positions 6 and 7 shall be held in 2023, 2026, 2029 and in three-year intervals thereafter.
The method of voting for a candidate to be elected is by plurality. To be elected, a candidate must receive more votes than any other candidate for the position.

General Election: May 4, 2024
The next Rusk ISD General Election will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 for the purpose of electing one trustee for Position 1 and one trustee for Position 2.
2024 Application and Election Timeline
Application for Ballot Filing Starts – Wednesday, January 17, 2024 @ 8:00 a.m.
Application for Ballot Filing Ends – Friday, February 16, 2024 @ 5:00 p.m.
If the office is closed due to inclement weather, please file your application ballot by email to election@ruskisd.net. This must be done before the deadline of 5:00 pm on February 16, 2024. A candidate application may be filed in person, by mail, or by email.

Write-in Candidate
If the office is closed due to inclement weather on Tuesday, February 20th please email your write-in candidate filing application to election@ruskisd.net or fax to 903-683-2104 (Please be advised that the application must be notarized prior to filing. Deadline is February 20th at 5:00 p.m.)
